1. Who this notice covers
This notice applies to anyone who applies to the Pelican First-Generation Scholarship, emails the program, or is selected as a recipient. The program is run by Pelican Family Office, the business name of Pelican Advisory LLC, Covington, Louisiana (the "Sponsor"). Visiting this website without applying does not ask you for any information: the site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. Like any website, the service that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs to run and secure the site.
2. What we collect
The application form collects:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- The college or university you attend, and whether you are an undergraduate or a graduate student.
- Your statement that you meet the first-generation definition, that neither parent or guardian completed a four-year (bachelor's) degree, given by checking a box and typing your name.
- Your confirmation that you have read the official rules and this notice.
If you email the program, we keep the email and whatever you chose to include in it. If you are selected, we also collect enrollment confirmation from your school and the details needed to pay the award and to report it where tax law requires.
3. What the application never asks for
The application does not ask for family income, tax returns, a FAFSA or Student Aid Report, bank details, a Social Security number, a parent's transcript or diploma, an essay, a GPA or a photograph. Only the selected recipient is later asked for the details needed to pay the award and to meet tax-reporting rules, and is offered the choice of sharing a photo for the winners page; the notification explains exactly what those details are, and the photo is optional. If a website asking an applicant for any of the items above claims to be this scholarship, it is not.
4. Why we collect it and how we use it
- To run the scholarship: checking eligibility, selecting a recipient, contacting them, confirming enrollment and paying the award.
- To reply when you write to us.
- To publish the recipient's entry on the winners page, only with the recipient's written consent.
- To keep the records the law requires about an award that was paid.
We do not use application information to market anything, do not sell it, do not share it with advertisers and do not use it to offer the Sponsor's services. Applying does not make you a client of the Sponsor.
5. Who sees it
Applicants submit through the program's online form. The service that hosts the form stores the submission and delivers it to the people at the Sponsor who administer the scholarship; access at the Sponsor is limited to those people and to the staff who maintain the system. If your college, a first-generation program, a TRIO program or a scholarship directory lists this award and you give information to that site, its own privacy policy governs that information, and none of it reaches us. We share information outside the Sponsor only with the form-hosting service, with your school (to confirm enrollment, if you are selected), with a bank or payment provider (to pay the award), and when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
Applications that are not selected are deleted twelve months after the cycle's recipient is announced. Records about the recipient and the paid award are kept for the period that tax and other legal rules require, then deleted. Emails you send us are kept while we are dealing with them and deleted afterward on the same schedule.
7. Winner publicity
If you are selected, we will ask you in writing what, if anything, you want published: your name, your school, a photo. We do not publish quotations or comments from recipients. You can say no to all of it and still receive the award. You can also withdraw consent later, and we will remove the material from this site within a reasonable time.
8. Your choices
- See what we hold. Email us and we will tell you what information we have about you.
- Correct it. If your contact details change before the announcement, email us so the notification reaches you.
- Delete it or withdraw. Email us to have your information deleted. If you delete an application before the deadline, it is withdrawn from the cycle; you may apply again in a later cycle.

9. Applicants under 18
The scholarship is for enrolled college and university students. If you are under 18 when you apply, email us first so we can tell you whether a parent or guardian needs to sign anything.
10. Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, the new version is posted here with a new "last updated" date. A change that affects information already submitted for an open cycle will be emailed to the applicants it affects.
